Quite often we have customers who need expedites from one city to the other and they need to get there as quick as possible. Recently, we had a customer in Indianapolis, Indiana, have a hot expedite need of parts to go from Indianapolis, down to a customer of there’s down in Laredo, Texas. When they called me it was early on a Thursday morning. They requested a box truck, 24 foot box truck load, to pick up from Indianapolis, and deliver Laredo, Texas, as soon as possible.
I told them in order to do that with one driver it would take multiple days, because of man-hours and the legal way of doing it. They said they needed it there the next day. In order to do this, we offered them the team driver option, in which we put two drivers in one truck, to expedite the load as quick as possible and make sure that the drivers are safe when driving.
Our quote for team drivers was, by far, the most competitive quote out there that would allow them to get their product from Indianapolis, Indiana, to Laredo, Texas, by the next day. They loved the option. That day, that afternoon, on a Thursday, we picked up a box truck load from Indianapolis, Indiana, and our team drivers were able to successfully and safely execute the load and deliver it to Laredo, Texas, the following day.
